PTC part 1

Austin had his parent teacher conference today. PTC's are always a good/bad thing for me. I love to hear about what my children are learning in school, how they are improving, and what I can do to help them. I don't like to hear that "Hunter cut Jacob's hair during craft time", or "Austin got mad and called his friend a poop head" or other such incidents. I know they are coming, because I have 3 boys.....but that doesn't make it easy to hear. Well I was pleasantly surprised during Austin's conference today. His teacher said he had all 3's and 4's on his schoolwork (they grade on a 1-4 system). But what was even more awesome for me to hear was his attitude about things. Two things in particular made me such a proud mom. His teacher said that a lot of times when some of the kids are struggling, she likes to pair them up so that they can all help each other in ways she might not be able to. She said that every time she does this, Austin is so good at helping the other students. Instead of just telling them what the answer is, he explains to them how they can get the correct answer so that they can learn themselves. Maybe my Mr. Smarty pants will be a teacher when he grows up! The other thing she said however, helped me know that Josh and I must be doing something right. She said that every time there is a student by themselves, he is always the first person to go talk to them and ask if they want to share his computer, or be in his group, be his partner, or play. She said she loves watching how compassionate he is towards everyone around him. I love that he has a big heart, and he chooses to share it with others! I felt that was worth some bragging rights!

the funny things they say

As a way for me to remember the crazy, and funny, moments, I'm going to document them here. Keep in mind, you may not find these things near as funny as me, but this is a few of the things the boys have said this week that tickled my funny bone.

Jacob "look mommy! i made a double decker bus!"
me "how do you know what a double decker bus is?"
Jacob "because it's part of our community! why don't you know that?!"

Jacob "mommy guess what! cowboys do not like owls."
me "why not?"
Jacob "because if they have baby chicks the owls can grab them with their feet, then when they get back to their tree then they can eat them."

(at subway)
Austin "i want chips with my sandwich"

Hunter "i want cookies"
Jacob "i want yogurt"
so i order them that, and austin sees through the drive thru window the yogurt
Austin "mommy, is that yogurt the kind that you put the stuff on top?" (meaning granola)
me "yes. why?"

Austin "well darn it! i should have gotten that! i guess i'm just out of luck!"

How Do You Do?

I figure I'll let my first blog post be a little about myself and my family. My name is Jessica, and I am 29 years old. I'll start with the most important things in my life I guess! I am a Christian, and have been for most of my life. I love my God, and know that nothing in this life would be bearable, or possible, without Him. I am not perfect, I stumble, just like everyone else, but I try my best to be the woman He has called me to be. I have been married for almost 8 years, and love my husband so much. He is the love of my life, my hero, my prince, my best friend, and the man God placed in the position to be my husband, no matter how trying that may be at times. Our marriage isn't perfect, but over the years, we have learned that if we strive to grow closer to God, we will in turn grow closer to each other. I have 3 crazy boys! Austin, born Feb 2006, is the most tender hearted child. He is smart, beautiful, and my oldest. He loves to sing,  dance, read, play lacrosse, watch hockey, and hang out with his daddy. Jacob is the 1st of my twins. They were born in March 2007. Jacob is hysterical! He keeps loves to laugh and to make others laugh. He loves his super-heros, to tell stories, and to sing silly songs. He is also stands up for others and knows what is right. Hunter is the 2nd twin. He is the "quiet" child. He loves to give hugs, and loves everyone! He likes to pretend play, play with trucks, trains, boads, airplanes, and anything that can be used as transportation! We love our family time. We watch hockey (Go Sabres!), watch movies, go camping, fishing, hunting, and love museums and zoos! That's a bit about those I hold dearest to my heart. I also have the greatest extended family. My brother and sister-in-law are newlyweds, and I love to see how in love they are! My cousins are all near and dear to me, and will never have people I am as close to as them.

As for my own personal likes and hobbies, there are many! I recently went to school to become a wedding planner. I am super excited to see how God uses me in that field! I love to sing and to listen to music. I love old movies (Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant, Doris Day, Rock Hudson), musicals (new or old), and pretty much any kind of movie. I like to photograph nature. I like to do crafts, scrapbook, sew, paint, etc. I don't know that I am any good at most of those, but I enjoy it, so that's what matters.

Last but not least, I am an army wife. I have stood behind my husband in his decision through 3 deployments, multiple trainings, and 3 duty stations. I have some of the most amazing friends because of my husband being in the army. As stressful as this life is at times, I wouldn't trade our time in this lifestyle for anything in the world.

So that's me in a nutshell. I'm new to blogging, so hang with me. I will use this blog to tell about the funny things my kids do, the day to day struggles of being any of the above, and the everyday blessings God shows me. Thanks for reading, and enjoy!
